look before you leap.
yes yes!, I know I haven't been around for Months! lots of things have happened and lots of things haven't, for one shanna and I have found a great apartment about 20 minutes from where i now reside, so were very excited!, also I have been attempting to draw two comics at once, one with my friend Evan witch is coming along nicely, but decided to take a little break from it because Evan works rather slow.
Shanna is visiting her family in South Carolina so I'm taking this opportunity to work even harder!, except this comic is turning out to be more of a challenge that had expected, ive realized that a comitment to a comic is a very seriouse comitment, I rarely go out anywhere these days, it takes me a few days just to finish 1 panel reason being is that the panel is 12 inches long and 6 inches high, the way im drawing this story is very different(some might say stupid even, i will have preview later) I pretty much jumped into something i thought would be a cakewalk and found out it really isn't.
I have a copy of a drifting life by yoshihiro tatsumi on my desk for motivation.
i can do this! i will do this!

worst day ever.
so within 4 days, i have lost 2 grandparents and a cat.
i dont know what im gonna do.

the loss of a kitty.
As some of you may know, my cat has been missing for over a week, Ive tried looking everywhere but with no success. This morning i was told there was a cat on the side of the street that really resembled my meer about a block away.
It cant be the meer! I thought to myself, he's indestructible! like all tom cats do they patrol the house and pretty much do whatever they want, but giving them the freedom they crave goes with a risk I decided to take, at his expence.
it was him.
dead.
on the side of the road.
At first I thought it might not be him but I checked his trade mark "harry potter" mark that he has between the eyes, and it was there.
I grabbed my kitty, rain and all, and took him home, with the help of my friends we buried him this morning.
this really sucks..
love your pets,
take care of them,
they are family.

FREE TIME. and missing cat.
my cat is missing, hes been gone for days now and we've tried shelters.
were going to start making flyers, and hopefully someone will have seen him around, im afraid that that it might have to do with our new puppy yuri, i hear that some cats can take off for months at a time and that really worries me.
ok so i havnt posted any new drawings cause im working on something that ive always wanted to do and finally had the balls to try it out.
its a secret for now, but im sure it will be worth the wait :)

self criticism and some new stuff.
Lately I haven't been too happy with the way my line work has been coming out, I was in the book store today and Realized what I have been doing wrong, so I feel pretty good now, I'm not going into it but hopefully you'll see more of an improvement as the weeks come.
Now some Book talk! I picked up Osamu Tezuka's Black jack #2 , Phoenix 1-2, and Buddha #6 I spent roughly $75 but worth every cent, All which Ive been Dying to get my hands on Lately.
Phoenix though has been something I recently started reading and its (not surprisingly) amazing, a number of different stories all surrounding this mythical bird, which if you drink some of its blood you will become immortal , Ever wonder what it would be like to really live 3,000,000,000 years alone? it sucks, the art is beautiful and the stories are a trip and definitely worth the 15 bucks for the first volume, now 10 more volumes to go! @_@"

How to Drawing #1
I will try and Make one these "How I do my art" blogs once a week, since I have work and the new puppy to take care of, now About half the time, no, probably more than half the time I Draw something; the image that ends up on paper is not what I had originally in mind so try to just let go and free your mind, you might end up surprising yourself.
I'm going to share the steps I take to make some creepy art work.
lets see what I use..
1. Pencils
2. Micron pens
3. Plain white paper (if your going to use markers to color, make sure its paper that wont spread the ink.
4. Prisma coloring markers
5. Good Eraser
I usually have all kinds of pencil sizes on hand to help me, but a good old number 2 pencil works just fine, I keep a separate eraser next to me because I never trust the eraser the pencil comes with, some times crappy erasers can smudge the picture or even tear your paper.
Lately Ive been wanting to draw something pretty typical of a horror movie poster, or from a horror movie scene; the damsel running in distress from something lurking in the shadows, she thinks whatever it is that was chasing her gave up...WRONG!..you know what I mean.
So we'll start with a sketch of a woman's body, and lets add a shadowy figure in the back..I still don't know what I'm going to put back there.
I want a reaction from the woman, so shes probably going to be screaming in shock of whatever it is that's grabbing her, this monster.
My favorite type of monster is a monster that has human features, so we'll go with that.
Now my Monster it seems is part from a larger monster that we cannot see, I guess it leaves a little room for the imagination, I also gave a long mouth with some shark looking teeth and some extra eyes to give it some extra creepiness, this girl is scared shitless yo.
Now lets finish the woman, I drew our creature grabbing and twisting her poor little neck, while giving her a little lick too, salty?
Now lets get to my favorite part, the inking; I like to use micron pens because they're good quality, I've used them for a very long time and can last you a while. I like to use a size 3 pen for out lining, and a number 1 pen for details and shading (line work).
As soon as I finish outlining everything, I make sure i didn't miss anything, and sometimes its good to give it a second run.
I use a light peach for the skin color of the creature and a suntan color for the darker areas, I'm going to leave the woman completely white since Im thinking of just making the background all black, it will look cool. :)
Now a green dress, once I have the basic colors I'm going to use I start whatever detail I'm going to add, this can take me from thirty minutes to an hour depending on the drawing, and is probably the most important part.
After all the detail is done, I can start coloring the detailed areas I just drew and use any extra colors to make it look better and color the whole background black, once the drawing is complete I scan it using a high DPI and do some touch up work on photoshop.

K through 9 are my favorite.
Theres something small running around my house, what is it? and why is it so fast?
It has my plushy toy Ewok doll I got from shanna last time we went to Disneyland, that was fun, I saw a man wearing a black shirt that said ''tigger please" and had a picture of tigger happily hopping a long, I tried looking for it all that day but later found out disney would never print such a thing, yeah right.
my plushy Ewok doll right looks like a silent hill character by now, thanks to this little thing..
That's Yuri, our new super cute 7 week old Dachshund puppy, she is from a litter of 3 whos owners lived in apartments and couldn't have more than 2 pets i guess, we got her when the chargers beat indianapolis 23 17 in overtime this past season in the wildcard game.
she has so much energy! and so much shit! where does it all come from? I guess this breed of dogs is really hard to potty train, will eventually bark a lot, have back problems, cannot be left unsupervised, strange odor, but we wont worry about the last one though, since she smells like corn tortillas mmm..
I guess we should have read more about this dog before accepting such a responsibility, so besides the peeing and dropping little dunkles everywhere, she is great!!! we already love this little monster so much, and makes us very happy.
i wonder if i can teach her to bring my shoes?

but the drawings will come, I asure you!
Ive been sitting here for a while now with a pencil in one hand and some paper on the other and I cant seem to figure out how to combine the two like i have been my whole life, i should know this by now! ugh!
Its easy to say "hey im gonna draw something totally awesome because i know i am capable of doing it" (sometimes).
I decided to start this blog because I want to show everyone intersted in the steps I take in order to make what i like to call my weird little works of art that take so much time out of me sometime i forget i have to work in the morning, lately I haven't had any nights like those, but everything that goes down on paper should surely be on this blog I have started today. My goal is to get into California college of the arts SOON! i want to get better! and be the best!
What kind of stuff doI draw anyways? well I dont know how to explain it, nor am i going to try right now, its best if I show you...some other time, but I would give my right arm any day to Draw like Suehiro Maruo.
This is a recent album cover Maruo illustrated for a j-rock band called "Inugami circus troupe", i wonder if they're in anyway related to "Inugami circus dan"?
